Audience This online training course covers worker safety practices to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS HBV and other communicable diseases while on the job in the State of Washington. This course meets the Washington State licensure and certification requirements for HIV/AIDS training. It contains Parts I, II, V, and VI of the KNOW curriculum as required by the Washington State Department of Health. Course Objectives * Describe the etiology and epidemiology of HIV worldwide and Washington State. * Describe the risk factors for transmission of HIV among health care workers and the * Discuss the legal and ethical issues relating to confidentiality, informed consent, * Discuss the psychosocial issues associated with HIV/AIDS including family issues, * Explain the steps personnel/staff should take for personal protection from airborne and * Identify components of a generic infectious disease exposure control plan as required by * Clarify how Hepatitis A, B, C, D, TB, HIV/AIDS, and Meningitis affect the body. * Describe the effects of the Ryan White Act on health care providers.
